You Made It Through the Cold Snap!

Thank you to coaches who made squad happen in cold temperatures and 
families who were able to come out for fresh air fun. 
We made it through!    

A huge thank you to those volunteers who support skiers at Western Canadian Championships this past weekend.  Would never happen without your wonderful enthusiasm and  leadership. 
Thank you Jennifer MacKeigan, Matthias Purdon, Laura Salmon, Ross Phillips and Paul Mason. 



This Week in Squad:
Tuesday 21st: 
4:30-6:00
**Western Champ kids need to be at squad early to clean and scrape their skis. Please return your race suit to Amanda

Wednesday 22nd:
5:30-6:30

**If you have a girl age 10-12 who doesn't come to squad on Wednesdays, but would like to have extra time working on downhills please connect with me for Downhill Divas group.

Thursday 23rd:
4:30-6:30
Technique and/or intensity depending on age.

Saturday 25th:
Speed session:  Yellow/ Orange/Purple and then head out on trails for Hut to Hut for the last hour
Families welcome to join in.

Time Trial:  Blue, Green and any AWG kids.  (weather dependent) and then ski Hut to Hut for cool down. 11:00-1:00

Update from outside races this past weekend: 

Youth Olympics:  Freestyle Sprint Race 
Derek Deuling qualified for the sprint heats and ended up 18th
Sasha Masson was just outside the qualifying time and ended up 38th

Next race is classic 10 km tomorrow.

Sonjaa Schmidt:  1st Sprints/ 3 Year of birth classic race
Victor Thibeault: 2nd Sprints
Sophia Giangrande: 2nd Year of Birth for classic race
Cheyenne Tirshmann:  2nd Year of Birth for classic race
Felix Masson, Simon Connell, Daniel Phillips-Freedman: 3rd in U14 skate relay

Lots of great skiing by blue and green squad on tough courses while ploughing through lots of fresh new snow!
